Really? No music at all? Even quiet beautiful stuff? We are a very musical family and the baby is already getting lots of music in the womb.

Salutations - I\'m not exactly sure what this has to do with Infant Bath Seat (that\'s what I was searching on MSN when I saw a link here), but I\'m glad I got a chance to read your blog. Thanks!!

"I have confessed before, and clearly I need more work because my shortcoming remain: I am a better mother in the light." Who isn't? Thank heaven the sun always comes up and shadows disperse. Kids forgive us instantly. After trying unsuccessfully to talk my daughter out of her fears I realized they were real, and perfectly realistic. When I quit trying to take them away, she can let them go by herself, and find new ones!

It was so difficult for me to "entertain" and accept visitors after my son was born 4-years ago following a difficult 5-day stay in the hospital. Many friends & family were eager to meet the little guy since visitations were not permitted during SARS.

I knew then that next time would be different. We are planning a home birth with our second child in just a few short weeks and lying-in is just what we'll need to connect and stay grounded as a family.

Sincerely
Leigh

I, too, read your article on mothering.com. Lying-in sounds like a beautiful transition for mother and baby. I think I will use the practice when my little one comes next month.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful experience.

I love this. You brought back all my memories of my Mother's high heels on the hard wood floors and how much I loved that sound. I believe that Kate and Michael will be blessed with the happy memories (the pictures you have painted are just wonderful). What will be interesting will be to ask them what they are in 20 years and see what the little pieces that they took with them are.

wow.
i very much needed to hear this today.
i've been feeling all over the place with my own three year old's potty usage, or lack there of.
and what a welcome reminder that he WILL, when he's good and ready!
thanks
